Suri Males at Stud

We are extremely proud of our line-up of white suri stud males, representing a cross-section of the very best suri genetics available in Australia today.

The Alcazar herd was originally based around some of the top Peruvian foundation suris, including Peruvian Senator and Pperuvian Amador. Cedar House Excalibar 2, a son of Senator/Summer Haze, remains within the Alcazar herd; also to be found within the herd are progeny of Cedar House Moonflute, a son of Amador/Mirrabelle and a full brother to Cedar House Sensational.

In more recent years, the Accoyo genes of the incomparable Surilana Icalon were added to the mix, through the use of Alcazar Domingo.

The next layer of breeding will add more Accoyo genetics to the herd, including those of Surilana T-Pito and Surilana Macusani Miss, through the use of Surilana Mister Macusani ET.

In addition to the males within the Alcazar herd, we have the opportunity to bring in highly sought after genetics through the ability to utilise two very special males from the Shangrilah and Birrong Suri herds—Surilana Donaldo and Surilana Quo Vadis ET.

IAR: 61788
Date of Birth: 30/11/2003

Fleece Statistics 2010 (6th fleece):

Domingo is a big, strong-boned male with perfect conformation and terrific presence. He has produced championship-winning progeny who exhibit outstanding lustre, handle and lock structure, combined with frame.

Domingo’s sire, Surilana Icalon, will need no introduction to breeders of white suri, being one of the most influential suri sires in Australia. Icalon was imported from Don Julio Bareda’s world famous Accoyo herd in Peru, and proved to be a highly prepotent male, siring many champion suris in his relatively short life—including Surilana Odin, Surilana Omar, Kurrawa Just Cruising ET, Pinjarra El Nino—and, probably the greatest of them all, Surilana Piccolo ET.

Domingo’s dam, Bella Vista Katherine, is a solid white female descended on her paternal side from one of the foundation white suris in Australia—Peruvian Senator.

Domingo matured early, having his first progeny on the ground before he was three years old, and remains a highly fertile male.

Domingo is not available for outside stud duties.

Mister Macusani is pure Accoyo, bred in Australia from the very successful Surilana embryo transfer programme. He was judged Champion Intermediate Male at the National Show in 2008, the same show at which his full sister Surilana Lady Columbine ET (from the same ET flush) was awarded Champion Intermediate Female and Supreme Champion Suri.

Mister Macusani has grown into a male with fantastic bone and still displays the phenomenal lustre of his first fleece. His first progeny are due in 2010/11.

Mister Macusani’s sire, Surilana T-Pito, has produced many show winning progeny, and his dam, Surilana Macusani Miss, was an elite member of the Surilana herd.

Mister Macusani is not available for outside stud duties.

Cedar House Excalibar 2 was sired by Peruvian Senator and his dam is Peruvian Summer Haze. A classic combination of Peruvian genes. Excalibar’s full siblings include the well known Cedar House Lotus, Cedar House Lord of the Ring and Peruvian Conquistador.

Excal has a very strong, proud, macho presence. He has a large frame, is strong boned and very muscular with very good conformation.

Excalibar was shown as a young male and his successes include first in class at National level and first in class with his fleece at Sydney Royal Show. His fleece is fine and stayed fine for many years.

Excal’s fleece at over 10 years still has very good locking for age and a lovely handle. He also still exhibits the energy and vitality of a much younger male. He is the only male in the Alcazar line up of studs that is registered as coloured, that being light fawn, but he is essentially creamy white in appearance. Earlier in his stud career, he was used over huacyas and suri crosses and has well and truly proven his homozygosity.

Excal is available for outside stud matings. Stud fee $660

SURILANA QUO VADIS ET

IAR: 95958
Date of Birth: 15/3/2006

Fleece Statistics 2010 (4th fleece):
23.9µ   SD 4.5µ   CV 18.7%

Surilana Quo Vadis ET is a unique and highly prized male, co-owned by Surilana, Birrong Suri Alpacas and Elimbari Alpacas.   Quo Vadis was judged Supreme Champion Suri at the Melbourne Royal Show and Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show in 2008.  His first fleece won many show accolades, including a Championship at the International Fleece Show in 2008 and Supreme Suri Fleece at the 2009 Canberra Royal Show.

In addition to his beautiful conformation and strong frame, Quo Vadis has a truly exceptional fleece, which has retained its fineness, handle and extreme lustre.  He is passing on these fleece characteristics to his progeny, who also exhibit his sturdy, masculine build.

Quo Vadis’ sire, Surilana Il Papa, was a highly prized male from the Allianza herd, imported from Peru when his owners were reluctantly persuaded to part with him at a mature age.  Sadly, he lived long enough in Australia to sire only four progeny – of which Quo Vadis is the only male.

Quo Vadis’ dam, the Accoyo bred Surilana Macusani Ma Belle, would have to be one of the greatest suri females in Australia.  She has 21 progeny (many born by embryo transfer) to her name including Surilana Accoyo el Cordoba, Surilana Bellita, Surilana Belle of the Ball – and two National Supreme Champions, Surilana Piccolo and Surilana Mister B.

Quo Vadis is not available for outside stud duties.

Surilana Donaldo is a prestigious male co-owned by Surilana and Shangrilah Alpacas. Donaldo has a highly impressive pedigree with sought after genetics, his sire is Surilana Odin and Surilana Icalon his grandsire. His dam is a high quality female selected in Peru, Surilana Donella de Allianza.

Donaldo has strong conformation, a large frame and solid bone. His fleece is dense and fine. Donaldo commenced stud duties at just over 2 years of age and successfully impregnated his first female at his second mating. His first progeny are now on the ground and hold great promise.
